The Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) is a distinguished, non-profit organization established under the Societies Registration Act of 1860. As the premier national association of educators in Engineering and Technology, ISTE collaborates closely with the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and various international partners. It plays a vital role in advancing government initiatives and annually recognizes excellence by presenting over 70 awards to institutions, faculty, and students who demonstrate innovation and leadership.

The ISTE-TSEC Student Chapter was inaugurated in the academic year 2024-25 with the mission of enhancing students’ holistic development through co-curricular, extracurricular, and professional activities. The chapter, registered as MH116 at Thakur Shyamnarayan Engineering College, is committed to promoting STEM disciplines—Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics—and bridging the gap between theoretical curriculum and industry demands.

Providing a vibrant forum for students, the chapter encourages active participation in initiatives that foster a spirit of competition and keep members abreast of the latest technological trends. communication. To date, the chapter proudly serves a membership exceeding 1,000+ Students & Faculties.

About ISTE

Founded in 1968 and officially registered under the Societies Registration Act, the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) traces its origins to the former Association of Polytechnic Teachers of India (APTI), established in 1941.

The organization has a strong national presence, including:

  • Over 2.8 million (28 lakh) technical teachers and around 535,000 student members.
  • More than 2,740 affiliated institutions, including prestigious IITs, IISc, NITs, and other leading technical colleges.
  • A network of 1,414 faculty chapters and 1,505 student chapters nationwide, along with 19 state-level divisions.

ISTE is recognized by important national bodies such as the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Department of Science and Technology (DST), and National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The society contributes to policy-making, curriculum updates, accreditation, and teacher development programs.

  • Organize seminars, workshops, and hands-on sessions on essential engineering tools and emerging technologies, including effective use of scientific calculators, software tools, and simulation platforms.
  • Host Ideathons, Projectathons, and paper presentation(technical,sustainable,developmental etc ) competitions to encourage innovation, research, and practical application of technical knowledge among students.
  • Conduct intercollegiate debate and quiz competitions to develop critical thinking, public speaking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Arrange Model United Nations (MUN) , Moot court ,Natonal Level Debate conferences and leadership forums to foster global awareness, diplomacy, teamwork, and strategic thinking.
  • Introduce coding marathons, hackathons, innovation challenges, and technical exhibitions to provide exposure to industry-relevant practices and nurture creativity and technical excellence.
  • Collaborate with industry experts and academic leaders to offer guest lectures, mentorship sessions, and guidance for career growth.
